Is it permissible to marry a young man whom the girl met through the internet, and he proposed to her, and her father approved of him?

Dating and correspondence between young men and women for the purpose of marriage is a gateway to temptation. Whoever wishes to propose to a woman should approach houses through their doors, meaning he should propose to her guardian. If a man takes the wrong path in seeking a woman, that should not prevent his acceptance if he is suitable for her, especially if there is mutual affection between them. Marriage is the optimal path and the effective remedy in this situation, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "We have not seen for those who love one another anything like marriage." Hastening the marriage of a girl if a suitable suitor proposes is Islamically مطلوب (recommended), as the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "If someone whose religion and character you approve comes to you, then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption."

Therefore, the father is advised to inquire about the young man. If he is a man of religion and good character, then he should hasten the marriage; otherwise, he should reject him. The girl should cut off her relationship with the young man as long as he is a stranger to her, and she should be patient, rely on Allah, supplicate frequently, and continue her studies without overthinking the matter.
