It is not permissible for parents to expose their 'awrah (private parts) in front of their discerning children, because that is a cause for the 'awrah to be exposed. For this reason, Allah Almighty commanded discerning children to seek permission at specific times (before Fajr prayer, at noon, and after 'Isha prayer), because these are times when clothes are changed. And if a child reaches puberty, he must seek permission at all times.
