What is the ruling on money acquired from practicing sorcery that involved disbelief and polytheism, after repentance and the need for money?

Sorcery (sihr) is forbidden and, by scholarly consensus, is considered one of the major sins; it can even reach the level of disbelief (kufr). If the sorcerer repents sincerely, Allah will accept their repentance inwardly, and it will benefit them in the Afterlife. As for this worldly life, jurists hold two views: the first is that they are not to be asked to repent, and the second is that they are to be asked to repent and their repentance is accepted, because it is not greater than polytheism (shirk (definition)), whose perpetrator is asked to repent.

If the sorcerer repents, they must dispose of the money earned from sorcery by spending it on the welfare of Muslims or giving it to the poor and needy. If they are poor, they may take from it what suffices for their needs and the needs of their dependents.
