ما هو الشرح المفصل لحديث الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم الذي رواه أبو داود: "الوائدة والموءودة في النار إلا أن تبلغ الوائدة الإسلام"؟

This hadith is authentic, narrated by Imam Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Al-Nasa'i. Its essence is that Umm Salamah bint Yazid Al-Ju'fiyyah died in the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah). Her children asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, if her kindness to kin (silat al-rahim) and hospitality to guests would benefit her. He answered no. Then they asked him about her burying their sister alive (wa’d), and he said: "The burier and the buried are in the Hellfire, unless the burier embraces Islam, then Allah may forgive her."

The hadith has been problematic because the buried child (maw'udah) was a young girl who had not reached the age of accountability (bulugh al-hinth). This problem was resolved by interpreting the story as being specific to a certain circumstance, not a general rule, or by understanding the burier (wa'idah) to mean the midwife and the buried (maw'udah) to mean the child's mother. This latter interpretation was favored by Al-Munawi.
