The answer

The brownish discharge that appears during the menstrual period, accompanied by its symptoms, is considered menstruation. A woman must consider herself menstruating from its onset. If the bleeding stops before a white discharge appears, she must consider herself pure and perform ghusl (ritual bath). If the bleeding stops during the cycle and she sees dryness, she should perform ghusl and pray. She counts the days of menstruation until the end of her usual period, or fifteen days if she does not have a regular period. After that, she is considered to be experiencing istihada (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding).
