Is it permissible for the muezzin or imam to rent out a residential room inside the mosque to others and benefit from the rental income?

If the muezzin or imam is granted permission by the endowment (waqf) or its overseeing body to reside in a waqf property, there is no harm in it. Otherwise, it is not permissible, and he would then be consuming that which is unlawful. This is because the endower has granted ownership of the usufruct of dwelling to the beneficiary, but not the property itself. Therefore, he is not permitted to rent it out to others or allow them to reside in it.
