Is it permissible to speak with the bus driver out of necessity and need?

There is no harm in a woman speaking with a bus driver or any other man if the conversation is for a need and adheres to the legitimate Islamic guidelines. This means there should be no softness in speech, as in His Almighty's saying: "Then do not be soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate words."
