Is all virtue to be hoped for from seeking worldly knowledge, and is it like seeking religious knowledge in that regard?

We have not come across any evidence suggesting that all merit is attained through knowledge. Seeking religious knowledge is greatly rewarded, as Allah Almighty says: "Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees," and as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When Allah wishes good for someone, He grants him comprehension in religion." And he also said: "Whoever treads a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise." Studying worldly sciences that serve the interests of people is a communal obligation (fard kifaya), and its practitioner is in a state of worship if he intends to serve society, and his reward is great. However, it does not equal the reward for learning religious sciences, due to the nobility of the subject matter and the constant need of Muslims for it.
