Does a wudu' (ablution) become void if the wiping over a splint is nullified after the injured limb has healed?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If someone wipes over a splint during their ablution, and then the area underneath it heals while they are still in that state of ablution, then only the wiping becomes invalid. They must remove the splint and wash what was beneath it if it is an area that should be washed, or wipe it if it is an area that should be wiped. This is the view of the majority of scholars.

However, according to the Hanbalis, the healing of the area under the splint invalidates the ablution, and one must perform a new ablution from the beginning.
