Is refraining from supplicating for a specific person after persistent supplication considered the haste that was condemned in the words of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "The supplication of any one of you will be answered as long as he does not supplicate for a sin or for cutting off the ties of kinship, and as long as he is not hasty. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, what is haste? He said: When he says: 'I have supplicated and I have supplicated, but I do not see that I am being answered,' so he becomes disheartened at that and abandons supplication"?

There is no harm in supplicating for marriage to a specific person, but it is better to entrust the matter to Allah so that He may choose what is best, especially since transitioning to a general supplication for a righteous spouse is better than supplicating for a specific person, the outcome of marriage to whom is unknown. One should review oneself regarding the reason for transitioning from supplicating for a specific person, and be keen to rely on Allah and occupy one's time with what pleases Him.
