What is the ruling of the religion on a husband abandoning his wife's bed for two years and betraying her, and the wife refusing to return to him based on the noble verse: "The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries a [female] fornicator except a [male] fornicator or polytheist, and that has been forbidden to the believers," and what are his rights over her in this situation, given the difficulty of divorce and the presence of children?

Marital life is not free of problems, and the spouses must resolve them according to Islamic law. The husband erred by abandoning his wife in bed, and the wife erred by refusing to respond to her husband. It is not permissible to accuse the husband of adultery without proof, and the mentioned verse relates to the initiation of marriage, not its continuation. The wife must obey her husband in what is right and proper, and if his adultery is proven, she should advise him and pray for him, and she is not obliged to seek a divorce.
