What is the ruling on a wife leaving the marital home without her husband's permission and filing a lawsuit for alimony while she is living with her family after refusing to help her husband's mother?
It is not permissible for the husband and his mother to exploit the condition of the wife's service to humiliate her or burden her with what she cannot bear. Affection must prevail between the wife and her in-laws. The wife has the right to an independent dwelling, and she is not obliged to live with her husband's family if she is harmed. The wife should respect her husband's father and not argue with him. It is not permissible for her to leave her husband's house except for a legitimate reason; otherwise, her maintenance allowance will be forfeited. It is advisable to seek wisdom in solving problems and to involve righteous people as mediators.
