Is it permissible for a divorced couple to return to each other after three divorces, knowing that the last divorce was at the wife's request, and that the husband's family believes there is no returning to each other unless she marries someone else?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
If a man divorces his wife with the third divorce, she becomes irrevocably separated from him by a major separation (baynunah kubra) and is not lawful for him until she marries another man in a valid marriage and he consummates it with her, then divorces her. After her waiting period (') ends, it becomes lawful for her first husband to marry her. The divorce of an angry person is effective unless he has lost consciousness. She must distance herself from this man.
