What are the consequences if a husband tells his wife, "It is unlawful for me to divorce you if you return home," and she does not return, and does this count as a divorce?

The combination of tahreem (prohibition) and talaq (definition) (divorce) has been previously explained. The suspension of tahreem and talaq on the wife's return home or not, is determined by the one who made the oath. As for an absolute oath regarding the timing of return, if the one who made the oath had an intention to specify the time, that intention is acted upon. Otherwise, the oath is not broken except at the last possible moment.
