The answer

There is a similarity between a conditional oath (ta'liq) and a regular oath () because both compel a person to do or refrain from doing something. Therefore, Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and those who agreed with him were of the view that an expiation for an oath (kaffarat al-yamin) is obligatory in the case of a conditional divorce ( mu'allaq) if divorce was not intended. As for the expiation for an oath, it is permissible to render it before or after breaking the oath, according to the majority of scholars.
