Did the husband err by divorcing his wife who confessed to him of adultery after marriage, and by not giving her any of her rights?

It is not permissible to compel the wife to relinquish her right without a legitimate legal reason, nor is the husband entitled to question her about her past or for her to inform him of it. Divorcing her is an error if she is upright in her religion and character and has repented from her past. However, if she persists in her condition, then divorcing her is more appropriate to protect one's honor. The husband must fulfill all her rights, and it is not permissible for him to oppress her or compel her to seek khul' (divorce at the wife's instance).
