Do repeated divorce pronouncements uttered by the husband in jest and out of ignorance of the Sharia ruling take effect, considering that the spouses have continued their lives and had children, and is the wife considered Islamically forbidden to him?
If you have divorced your wife with three explicit and separate pronouncements, she is irrevocably divorced from you (baynunah kubra). She does not become lawful for you again until she marries another man, he consummates the marriage with her, and then he divorces her or dies, and her waiting period () expires. The fact that you were joking or ignorant of the ruling does not prevent the divorce from taking effect. Therefore, you must separate from your wife. As for the children, they are attributed to you because you both believed the marriage to be valid. It is advisable to present the matter to the court or to trustworthy scholars.
