Does a wife have the right to demand separate housing from her in-laws after she had agreed to live with them before marriage, and is it an injustice to give her the choice between accepting the situation or divorce?
It is the wife's right that her husband provides her with a suitable, independent dwelling, which is a room with its amenities. If this is the case, then the wife has no right to demand another dwelling. It is not permissible for the husband to distance himself from his mother and neglect her care if she is in need, for the mother's right is great and honoring her is among the most obligatory duties. If it is possible to combine honoring the mother with retaining the wife and being kind to her, then that is more preferable. If it is not possible, then there is no blame upon the husband if he divorces his wife, and he would not be doing her an injustice thereby.
