Is it permissible for the fiancé to express his love to his fiancée?
The fiancée is considered a non- until the marriage contract is concluded. Everything that could incite discord between her and her fiancé is forbidden, such as privacy (), unrestricted mixing, shaking hands, and speaking about matters of marital intimacy. The Prophet, peace be upon him, referred to the ear listening to unlawful speech as a form of zina (fornication/adultery), as he said, peace be upon him: "The son of Adam's share of zina has been decreed for him, and he will inevitably attain it. The eye commits zina, and its zina is looking. The ear commits zina, and its zina is listening. The hand commits zina, and its zina is touching. The foot commits zina, and its zina is walking. The heart desires and wishes, and the private parts confirm or deny that." Narrated by Al-Bukhari. Any communication between the prospective groom and bride concerning marriage and its arrangements must take place through a mahram to prevent temptation.
