Is it permissible for the groom to write a deferred dowry of EGP 20,0 and pay only EGP 10,0, and would the girl leave him if he did not pay this amount, considering that he is religious?

It is advisable to be keen on a religious young man, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If someone whose religion and character you approve comes to you, then marry him." A religious husband honors his wife, and even if he dislikes her, he does not wrong her. If it is customary for apartment furnishings to be part of the mahr (dowry), then they are considered part of the muqaddam (advanced portion). The determination of the mahr is up to the wife, whether she is a virgin or previously married, if the mahr is similar to that of her peers and she agrees to it. It is permissible to agree on a secret mahr and declare a larger amount, and the husband is only obligated by the secret mahr that was agreed upon. The mahr is an exclusive right of the wife, and she can waive it entirely or partially. It is permissible to use tawriyah (ambiguity) with relatives regarding the mahr amount to avoid angering them. Islamic law encourages facilitating dowries, and that the mahr be paid in advance (mu'ajjal), or deferred (mu'ajjal), or partly in advance and partly deferred.
