The answer

The marriage of an unchaste man or woman is not valid until they repent, due to the Almighty’s saying: (The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries the fornicator except a [male] fornicator or a polytheist, and that has been forbidden to the believers) An-Nur/3.

The verse forbids believers, male and female, from marrying fornicators. Scholars have interpreted it to mean that it indicates the prohibition of marrying an unchaste woman until she repents, and marrying an unchaste man until he repents. So, whoever embarks on such a marriage before repentance has embarked on something forbidden. And he must renew the marriage contract after repentance.
