Is the marriage contract considered annulled, and can the woman remarry, if the husband refrains from spending on his wife and children for more than six months after disputes arose and the wife requested a divorce?

As long as the wife has not been divorced, she remains under the authority of her husband. His refusal to fulfill his duties is not considered a divorce. Referring the matter to the judiciary does not annul the marriage unless the judge annuls it and the 'iddah (definition) (waiting period) expires. A husband striking his wife is an injustice, and Allah may take retribution from him. A woman has the right to seek divorce if she is harmed. The husband is obligated to provide for his wife and children as long as they are minors and have no wealth. The wife's maintenance is not forfeited except in the case of a non-pregnant woman's nushuz (disobedience/rebellion). A woman leaving her husband's house without his permission is nushuz, unless there is a legitimate Shariah excuse. The competent authorities will consider the matter of maintenance and other related issues.
