The question

What are the wife's rights, in terms of dowry and maintenance, in the case of a marriage that lasted six months, during which there was a valid seclusion (khalwa shar'iyya), and attempts at penetration occurred, leading to "widening in the area" as confirmed by the doctor, but full penetration did not take place, and the wife is still a virgin?

The answer

The wife is entitled to the full Mahr (dowry) upon intercourse, whether virginity is lost or not. The jewelry (wedding gift) is her property, and it is not permissible to take it back, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The one who takes back his gift is like a dog that returns to its vomit."
