The question

What is the ruling on a Muslim man marrying a foreign non-Muslim woman – but one who intends to embrace Islam – in a non-Muslim country, with a document specifying the dowry and witnesses (a Muslim woman and a man of the People of the Book), and with the knowledge and consent of the wife's family, but without the knowledge of the husband's family, knowing that the husband intends to propose to an Arab woman, but he loves the foreign woman?

The answer

You have done well to repent to Allah from the sins for which Allah has threatened their perpetrators with multiplied punishment, except for those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds. Sincere repentance involves abandoning the sin, regretting what has passed, and resolving not to return to it. Your marriage to a non-Scriptural woman is invalid, and even if she were Scriptural, it would be incorrect due to the absence of marriage conditions, including the witnessing by two just Muslim witnesses. This woman is not chaste, but if she embraces Islam, repents, and purifies herself by one menstrual cycle, and the conditions for a valid marriage are met, then there is no impediment to marrying her. The validity of your marriage does not depend on your family's knowledge or consent, and it is obligatory for you to cut ties with her as long as she persists in her immoral state.
