What is the ruling on an uncommitted Muslim man being in charge of a Muslim woman, and what is the role of women in society?

Jurists stipulate six conditions for the guardian (wali): intellect, puberty, freedom, masculinity, unity of religion, and رشْد (sound judgment/rectitude). If any of these conditions are absent, the guardianship becomes invalid. Justice ('adalah) is not a condition for the guardian according to most scholars. If the apostasy of the guardian is established, his guardianship over a Muslim woman is not permissible, and her marriage would be invalid, necessitating the renewal of the contract with a lawful guardian.
