What is the ruling regarding a man who divorced his wife with a single pronouncement before consummating the marriage, then consummated the marriage with her and was blessed with three children from her?

Divorce before consummation separates the wife from her husband with a minor irrevocable divorce, and it is not permissible for him to take her back except with a new contract. Therefore, for the husband to consummate the marriage with his wife after her divorce and before consummation is not permissible, and he must separate from her. If he wishes to continue the marriage, he must renew the contract with the permission of her guardian and in the presence of witnesses. If he believed it was permissible to have intercourse with her, the lineage of any children born from this union would be attributed to him. A Muslim should ask people of knowledge before undertaking any action, especially in matters concerning marital relations, for Allah Almighty says: "So ask the people of the message if you do not know."
