It is permissible for a man to marry a second wife without the consent of the first wife, provided that the conditions and pillars of marriage are fulfilled, and he adheres to justice between the two wives and their children. Documentation is not a condition for the validity of the contract, but it is preferable if its absence leads to the loss of the rights of the second wife and her children; in fact, it may become obligatory then.
