A husband's abandonment of his wife without justification is forbidden (). It is the wife's right that her husband treat her kindly and ensure her chastity. This is one of the most emphasized marital rights. The husband must be just among his wives. Legal responsibility is tied to ability. If the husband is unable to fulfill his wife's rights due to magic (sihr), then there is no sin upon him. In such a case, the wife has the right to seek a divorce from the judge if she is harmed or fears falling into immorality. There is no blame in seeking a divorce for a valid reason.
