The answer

Divorce is subject to the five legal rulings, and it is permissible when there is a need for it. Sometimes, the benefit of separating from the wife is greater if the husband is harmed by keeping her. Ibn Qudamah said: "For sometimes the situation between the spouses becomes corrupt, and the continuation of the marriage becomes pure corruption and sheer harm. This necessitated the enactment of something that removes the marriage to remove the resulting corruption."

It is advised to keep the wife and try to treat her and counsel her, especially if she is a relative. If counsel does not work, there is no harm in hinting at divorce or marrying another. If her condition does not improve, one can keep her and marry another, while striving for justice, or divorce can be the last resort.
