It is forbidden to reveal a secret, especially between spouses, and the sin is greater if it concerns marital intimacy. This prohibition is the general rule, unless revealing the secret brings about a predominant benefit or fends off a predominant harm. In such cases, it is permissible to the extent of the necessity, as Bilal did when he revealed the secret of the two women’s question to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
