The answer

The work this young man is doing is based on his influence (jah). Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on accepting payment for such mediation. The preponderant view is that if the person with influence needs to exert effort or incur expenses in his work, then he may accept a customary fee (ujrat al-mithl); otherwise, he may not.

Accordingly, if this young man needs to expend effort, or undergo hardship, or spend money and time to finalize these transactions, and there is no encroachment on the rights of others, then there is no objection to him accepting payment. Otherwise, it is not permissible for him to accept payment, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever intercedes for his brother with an intercession, and a gift is presented to him, and he accepts it, then he has approached a great door from the doors of usury."

It should be noted that the fiancée is a stranger to the suitor until the marriage contract is concluded.
