It is permissible to abort a fetus if its continued presence poses a danger to the mother's life. However, aborting it due to fetal illness or malformation is not permissible after the pregnancy has reached 120 days, unless a reliable medical committee report confirms that the continuation of the pregnancy poses a definite danger to the mother's life. There is no objection to carrying a pregnancy with the possibility of the fetus contracting a disease, but it is not permissible to abort a sick fetus after the soul has been breathed into it.
