Is it permissible to fast on Wednesday instead of Thursday to earn the reward of fasting, considering that the fasting person studies on Thursday and fears bad breath?

Designating Monday and Thursday for fasting holds a special virtue due to deeds being presented on these days. Whoever fasts on another day will receive reward, but will not attain this specific virtue. The smell of a fasting person's mouth is not a reason to abandon worship, because it is more pleasing to Allah than the scent of musk. The fasting person is advised to use a siwak to reduce the odor, knowing that khaluf (the specific smell of a fasting person's mouth) does not disappear completely. It is permissible for a fasting person to declare their fast when there is a need. If it is possible to move study days to other than Monday and Thursday, that would be better. A doctor should be consulted if the bad breath is strong due to an illness.
