The answer

Islam encourages marriage and procreation. If a pregnancy poses a danger to the mother's life, scholars have permitted abortion, because the mother is the origin. If it is confirmed by trustworthy doctors that the pregnancy poses a danger to the woman's life, then there is no objection to abortion, and it may sometimes be obligatory to avert harm, citing the verse: "And do not kill yourselves" (Quran 4:29). As for the cessation of the husband's lineage, it is advised that he marry again. In conclusion: It is permissible for the wife to use permanent birth control methods if pregnancy endangers her life and trustworthy doctors confirm this, provided that the illness is not one that is expected to disappear; otherwise, she should use temporary methods.
