Is masturbation permissible given the difficulty of fasting and the impossibility of marriage, with reference to the statements of some scholars?
Masturbation is considered prohibited according to the predominant opinion of scholars, though some have permitted it in cases of necessity, such as fear of committing adultery or the risk of harm or illness. Reports from a group of the Companions and their followers indicate that they allowed it in situations of necessity, such as fearing adultery and finding no other way to avoid it, or fearing illness if abstaining. However, in the absence of necessity, there is no known scholarly opinion permitting it. Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. We ask Allah for protection from temptations, steadfastness, and avoidance of sins. We recommend fearing Allah, accompanying righteous people, and engaging in the remembrance of Allah, as Satan persistently seeks to mislead humans. Masturbation is prohibited according to the majority of scholars, though some have allowed it in cases of necessity, such as fearing the temptation of adultery or potential harm or illness.
