Is it obligatory for us to wear the hijab in front of our Christian maid?

A Muslim woman is not required to observe hijab (definition) in front of a non-Muslim woman, and this is the more likely opinion among scholars. Some scholars cite the verse: (And not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers... or their sons...) An-Nur/31, interpreting "their women" to mean only Muslim women. However, others, and this is the more correct view, believe that "their women" includes all women, both Muslim and non-Muslim. Further supporting this is the fact that Jewish and pagan women used to visit the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and there is no narration that they (the wives of the Prophet) observed hijab in front of them.
