Is it permissible for a Muslim girl - who is not committed [to religious observance] - to marry and travel to live with her fiancé - who is also not committed [to religious observance] - in Australia, knowing that he was born and raised there, and what is your advice to her religiously committed family?
Residing in non-Muslim countries is not permissible except under certain conditions, such as possessing religious knowledge, demonstrating religious practices, and ensuring the safety of one's family. The guardians of the girl must marry her to someone who will safeguard her religion and dignity, and they should stipulate that he commits to her wearing the and enabling her to learn her religion. If the guardians fear for her religion being lost, then it is not permissible for them to marry her off. If the young man intends to return to his home country or to a Muslim country, then there is no harm in the marriage, provided his uprightness is confirmed. However, if he does not intend to return, it is not advisable to marry the girl to him, as she may be exposed to tribulations. He can marry from among the Muslim community residing there.
