The answer

There is no objection to a Muslim working for a non-Muslim in a bakery or elsewhere. The majority of jurists permit a Muslim to lease himself to a Dhimmi, provided that the work itself is permissible. They cite as evidence what Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, did when he leased himself to a Jew, and that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not disapprove of it. This does not include work that humiliates a Muslim or treats him as a servant to the non-Muslim.
