What is the legitimate Islamic comment on a male preacher accompanying the wife of another male preacher in an effort to secure the release of detainees, and on the admiration he developed for her personality as a result of this accompaniment?

If a man is alone with a foreign (non-mahram (definition)) woman, and both are adults, they must repent, because being alone with a foreign woman and accompanying her is forbidden and one of the gateways to temptation. However, if the companion is a child from whom no temptation is feared, or is a mahram, or if the accompanying is without privacy and with the woman veiled, then he must clarify this to avoid accusation. A Muslim must safeguard his religion and his honor.
