What is the Muslim's stance when he sees that the scholars who preach asceticism and non-flattery towards people of influence are the furthest from what they preach?

A Muslim is bound by God's commands and legal rulings, and is not obligated to follow people. What is obligatory is to follow what the scholar has narrated from the Sharia (definition). One must think well of scholars and not accuse them, for the accused may have a view and a reason for what they do. A Muslim should reform himself and advise his brethren gently, without defamation or disparagement.
