The answer

Cattle are among the animals that Allah has made lawful to eat. If slaughtered for consumption, they are (permissible). This is indicated by the obligation of (alms) upon them and the permissibility of seven people sharing in a sacrificial offering () with them. As for what has been narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding its meat being a disease, this applies to cattle from certain lands.
