What is the ruling on a Muslim living in a foreign country consuming foods that contain small amounts of pork fat or alcohol, given the existence of a fatwa that permits this if the quantity of the unlawful substance does not change the color, taste, or smell of the lawful substance?

The fat of a pig is impure, just like its meat and all other parts. Therefore, it is not permissible to consume foods and drinks that are highly likely to be mixed with it, even in a small proportion; because a little of it and a lot of it are forbidden, and it contaminates the food. The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa (definition) prohibiting the consumption of meat or cheese mixed with pig fat or blood if it is certain or highly probable. However, if it is not known, then it is permissible to eat from it, as the basic principle for things is permissibility and purity.
