The answer

Imported slaughtered animals from Jewish and Christian countries fall into three categories:

The first is when it is known that they were slaughtered according to Islamic rites, in which case they are permissible, based on the Almighty's saying: (The food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you) [Quran 5:5].

The second is when it is known that they were slaughtered in a manner other than Islamic rites, in which case they are forbidden, based on the Almighty's sayings: (Forbidden to you are carrion...) [Quran 5:3] and (And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned) [Quran 6:121].

The third is when the method of slaughter is unknown. In this case, it is a matter of doubt and hesitation. The default is permissibility as a facilitation, provided it is confirmed that the slaughterer is from the People of the Book.

If the majority of the country's inhabitants are from the People of the Book, the default is that their slaughtered animals are permissible unless proven otherwise; otherwise, it is not permissible to eat from them. However, with the widespread reports that slaughtering in these countries does not follow Islamic law, one should be cautious about eating them without definitively declaring them forbidden.
