Is it permissible to forgo the wedding feast and the forbidden things that accompany it (such as intermingling, immodest display, and singing), and instead suffice with slaughtering animals and distributing their meat to relatives and the poor?

If a person knows that the walima (wedding feast) will lead to forbidden acts, he must refrain from it, because it is not obligatory, and averting evils takes precedence over achieving benefits. The host of the walima can hold it and prevent anyone whose presence would lead to a wrongdoing. By doing so, he would have revived a Sunnah (definition) and would be rewarded for those who follow him. If he is unable to control the situation, it is better for him to slaughter a sheep and invite righteous people to it, and distribute the rest to the poor, relatives, and neighbors, announcing that this is the walima food.
