What is the ruling on eating the meat of birds and animals slaughtered in foreign countries, knowing that they sever the head during slaughter and that they are not slaughtered according to Islamic law?

It is impermissible to consume the meat of birds and animals unless they have been slaughtered according to the Islamic legal method (dhakāh shar'iyyah); this is because they are then considered carrion. If the slaughter is performed according to the legal method, then merely severing the head of the slaughtered animal after the slaughter does not affect its permissibility, though it is disliked (makrūh).
