Updated Sep 4, 2026

In plain terms

Fidyah is a payment, often feeding a person in need, made in place of a missed fast when making it up later isn't realistically possible. A chronic illness or old age are common reasons it applies. It differs from kaffarah, which covers specific violations, not an inability to fast.
