What is the ruling on one who, due to the intense crowding, threw the pebbles at the Jamarat for himself and his wife together – with two pebbles at the same time? And is there a fidyah upon her?

For the deputy's throwing to be valid, he must first throw on his own behalf, then on behalf of his principal. Alternatively, he may throw one pebble for himself and one pebble for his principal. It is not permissible to throw two or more pebbles at once; rather, it will be counted as only one pebble. Accordingly, the man's throwing on behalf of his wife was not valid, and thus she missed the throwing. She must therefore offer a "Dam" (a sacrifice), which is to be slaughtered in Mecca and distributed among the poor of the Haram (definition), because she neglected one of the obligatory duties of Hajj. If she is unable to do so, she must fast for ten days.
