Will I be credited with an Umrah (minor pilgrimage) in Ramadan if I perform Umrah on behalf of my deceased father in Ramadan, after having performed Umrah for myself in Sha’ban?

Scholars have differed regarding the reward for someone who performs Hajj or 'Umrah (definition) on behalf of another. One group holds that he receives a reward similar to that of the person for whom he performs the pilgrimage, citing the general import of hadiths on the virtues of Hajj and 'Umrah. Others, however, believe that the specific reward and virtue of Hajj belong to the person on whose behalf it is performed, while the proxy receives the reward for his good deed, for fulfilling the need of his brother, and for the independent acts of worship he performs, such as prayer and dhikr in the Haram (definition). The matter ultimately rests with Allah, the Exalted.
