Is the saying: "Whoever has the means and ability, yet does not perform Hajj or renew his Hajj every five years, has forsaken Me," a Prophetic Hadith?
The questioner might be referring to the narrated by Ibn Hibban and authenticated by Al-Albani, on the authority of Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, a servant whose body I have made healthy and whose livelihood I have made expansive, and five years pass over him without him coming to Me (for Hajj/), is indeed deprived." This is understood to mean desirability and emphasis, because Hajj and Umrah are only obligatory once in a lifetime. So, whoever Allah has expanded his provision and well-being, and five years have passed over him without performing Hajj or Umrah, he is "deprived" in the sense that he has missed out on much good.
