Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, indicates that the people of Yemen used to perform Hajj without taking provisions, justifying it by saying they were relying on Allah. When they reached Mecca, they would ask people for provisions. As a result, Allah Almighty revealed His saying: "And take provisions, for indeed, the best provision is righteousness."
